Where on Earth is the Proper Government?

Where on Earth is the Proper Government?

The situation on earth and especially in our country has caused people to wonder who can honestly and properly manage the country.  Today everyone longs for proper authority, which truly cares for the people and administrates with righteousness and justice.

Tired of greed, corruption, and deceit and hoping to obtain a proper government, many people want the country to be managed not by politicians but by the people.  However, even the people and society, in general, are not exempt from the same evils as those so lately and blatantly manifested in politicians. The same root is in each one of us.  These evils originate within the human heart.  In the gospel of Mark, Jesus said: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil reasonings, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, foolishness.  All these wicked things proceed from within and defile the man.” (Mark 7:21-23)

This is why today’s need cannot be met either by a change of government or by the people themselves.  The desire for a better way is strong, but the power to carry it out is missing.  The apostle Paul stated it well: “For to will is present with me, but to work out the good is not.” (Rom. 7:18)

The society for which we seek is actually the kingdom of God.  The kingdom of God is “righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 14:17)  The ruler of this kingdom is Jesus Christ, the Righteous (1 John 2:1).  The Bible promises that “the government is on His shoulder” and “to the increase of His government and to His peace there is no end…to establish it and to uphold it in justice and righteousness from now to eternity.” (Isa. 9:6-7)  The way to enter this kingdom is not through man’s futile efforts to reform the human heart, which is incurably sick (Jer. 17:9), but through a new birth.  Jesus said, “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5)  The Bible also promises that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old things have passed away; behold, they have become new!” (2 Cor. 5:17)

Dear countryman, this is what our country needs.  If you receive Jesus Christ, He will come into you as the Prince of Peace with His heavenly rule.  Christ will make you a new creation and set up His kingdom of love, light, righteousness, and justice within you.  Today what our nation needs is not only people who wield authority but people who are under the rule of God.

To receive this Christ, the “Desire of all the nations,” (Hag 2:7) simply turn to Him with an open and honest heart and say:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I need you. Thank You for dying for me.  Lord Jesus, forgive me and cleanse me of all my sins.  I need a new birth. Come into me and make me a new creation.  I receive you now as my Lord, my Savior, and my life.  Lord Jesus, I want you to rule over me and Your kingdom to be established in me!
